Learning Library successfully piloted Handbook 2 workshops within the “Do You Know YOUR DEMOCRACY?” project

Between 25-27 January 2025, Learning Library successfully organised a three-day piloting workshop as part of the Erasmus+ project Do You Know YOUR DEMOCRACY?. The activity brought together 25 young participants aged 18–25 to test and improve educational workshops developed within Handbook 2 of the project.

The participants included both active members of the Youth Leaders Hub and new young people who had not previously participated in project activities. Special attention was given to the inclusion of young people with fewer opportunities, with organisers creating a safe and supportive environment for everyone involved.

Throughout the three days, participants took part in a dynamic programme that combined ice-breakers, discussions, group work, interactive exercises, and the piloting of ten different workshops focused on democracy, participation, and critical thinking. The sessions also included continuous feedback collection, allowing participants to directly contribute to the improvement of the educational materials.

One of the most valuable aspects of the activity was the opportunity for young people to reflect on their own understanding of democracy and compare their perspectives with official definitions and democratic concepts. Participants highlighted that the workshops encouraged teamwork, open dialogue, creativity, and meaningful discussions connected to their own experiences and realities.

The feedback collected during the piloting process was overwhelmingly positive. Participants particularly appreciated the interactive and creative elements of the workshops, while also providing constructive suggestions for further improvements, especially regarding clearer explanations and more balanced group discussions in some sessions.

This piloting activity represented an important step in the development of practical educational resources that will support youth workers, educators, and young people in exploring democratic values, participation, and active citizenship through non-formal education methods.
