The project “VET EcoLume” is designed to confront the growing challenge of light pollution in the Europe and Latin America by pioneering a strategic blend of education, collaboration, and advocacy. This project sets out to cultivate a new wave of professionals equipped to counteract the harmful effects of light pollution on ecosystems, human health, and labour market. Project focuses on the development of a comprehensive VET curriculum aimed at producing Light Pollution Mitigation Specialists. This curriculum is geared towards enhancing the employability of individuals by aligning with the labor market’ demands for green and digital skills. VET EcoLume emphasizes cross-cultural collaboration between the European Union and Latin American countries, sharing sustainable lighting solutions and best practices to foster a unified approach to mitigating light pollution.
The project undertakes advocacy efforts to elevate the importance of sustainable lighting, pushing for policies and regulations that support environmentally friendly lighting practices. A key innovation within the project is the integration of digital platforms for curriculum delivery, ensuring accessible and flexible learning opportunities. By focusing on the professional development of VET learners and provides, the project aims to empower educators with the knowledge and skills necessary for effective light management. VET EcoLume aligns with the Erasmus+ Programme’s overarching goals, particularly in fostering inclusion and diversity, digital transformation, and international dimensions in education.
