The REVIVER project is a unique initiative that strives to promote regenerative agriculture and eco- sustainability through the development of a comprehensive educational program. The project involves international partnerships between organizations from Europe and Sub-Saharan Africa, which will work together to develop a vocational curriculum in the field of regenerative agriculture and create an inter- regional network of stakeholders. The project will raise awareness of VET providers and young farmers about regenerative agriculture and increase their knowledge and skills necessary for the transition from traditional to regenerative agriculture.
It will also develop an innovative vocational curriculum that takes into account the geographical, climate, and ecological specificities of Europe and the Sub-Saharan Africa region, as well as create an online learning and training platform with digital learning tools and methods. By doing so, the project will not only contribute to the development of regenerative agriculture, but also to the regional priorities of the three Sub-Saharan African countries.
Project objectives:
- Project establishes international partnership between organizations that provide VET services, with three organizations representing Europe and three organizations representing Sub-Saharan Africa. The purpose of such partnership is to contribute to the transnational element of knowledge sharing in the field of regenerative agriculture taking into account that countries in Sub-Saharan Africa are neither familiar with the theory behind the concept nor with its practical approaches and examples. Furthermore, the need analysis has detected that regenerative agriculture approach would decelerate soil degradation and subsequently contribute to the food quality and climate resilience in the mentioned region; thus, the international dimension of partnership has proven necessary since regenerative agriculture has been more and more pronounced at European level.
The project is focused on developing a new vocational curriculum in the field of regenerative agriculture, thereby the goal is to strengthen the VET services in six participating countries and beyond by equipping their VET providers (teachers/trainers) with the new knowledge and skills in the mentioned field to be more responsive to the needs of agricultural stakeholders. Moreover, the project will contribute to the quality of VET services by modernizing the teaching program and adapting it to the regional priorities.
With the established international partnership and the new curriculum, the project will improve the connection between VET learners and labor market in six countries. It will strengthen the position of farmers, agricultural students, food manufacturers in the agricultural sector, thereby making them more reactive to the requirements of labor market, accessible for future jobs, and encourage new business creation.
