Training for youth workers and youth work practitioners organised as part of the MILGreen Project

In October this year, a training titled “Media Literacy in Green Topics” was held. The event was organised as part of the project Media and Information Literacy for climate change and environmental topics, funded through the Erasmus+ program. The goal of the training was to equip 20 professionals, trainers, and educators to work with youth on topics of media literacy and media understanding, with a specific focus on environmental issues.

Training was organised in total duration of 8 working days.

Over the several days of intensive workshops and lectures, participants had the opportunity to enhance their skills in critical thinking, analysing media content, and understanding the impact of media on environmental topics.

The following topics were covered:

  • Introduction to media literacy: Who, what, where, when, and why?
  • Research findings on youth perceptions in the digital age.
  • Fact-checking in the digital environment.
  • The impact of fake news on young people.
  • The application of artificial intelligence in recognising truthful information.
  • Media and green topics.

The training provided a platform for exchanging knowledge and experiences and offered participants practical tools they can apply in their local communities.

Participants expressed their satisfaction with what they had learned and emphasised the importance of continuing efforts to raise awareness of the media’s influence and its role in green topics.
